Post Reunion Chat
Posted Monday, October 5, 2009 08:08 PM

Jim and I stopped into Hellberg's today to give Vic CD's of the pictures we took at the reunion. It's a good thing he's the boss, because we spent too much of his work time visiting about the reunion and how much we enjoyed seeing and chatting with so many classmates. Even though we both live in Marshalltown, Vic asked, "Why is it we only sit across a table every five years?" Good question since we had such a good time and so enjoyed his delightful wife Gayle.

There are several MHS classes that meet on a regular basis, usually once a month for dinner. How about it class of "64. Is there any interest in socializing, maybe once a month? Even my shy, usually resistant to reunions husband, has made the turn and liked the idea.

There is also discussion about a Las Vegas meeting place. Let's talk.

Thank you for your kind words, Kay.  Gayle and I are up for Tuesday nights, how does that work for you?  How many out there want to join us???

I would love to join you every Tuesday night but after I move back!  For all of you that live in Marshalltown, please represent me until I get here!!

I also want to add my opinion of the 45th class reunion.  It was GREAT!  I had sooooo much fun!

Thank you to everyone who worked on organizing it.  I can't wait until the next time we meet!

I don't think we mean every Tuesday, maybe once a month. I have a good friend from the class of 1961. Karen Glans is their Vic Hellberg. Tonight they are meeting at Jax. When I heard who was going, I was wishing I could join the fun. They also add meetings when they know out-of-town classmates are visiting. I always love when you visit Patty!

I think with the web site we have to keep in touch, that a get together would be great! Once a month is also great. Tuesday Is my Music Jam night, but if it works out I may just go as a listener on the night we meet for our class Of 64 get togather.

With our busy lives if it is not expected every time that one has to be there. I think it could work and could be fun

The time and place invitation could be E-mailed for notice to some of us outside the borders of Marshalltown.

Will you be getting together on a Tuesday night in November?

Linda, Tuesday was just a thought because it worked for Hellbergs and us. If anyone is coming home and would like a gathering, we sure can work around your visit. When are you coming? I'd love to see you!

My dear friend Marsha Holm, class of '61, has never been to her reunion, but after hearing how much we enjoyed ours, decided to go to one of their dinners. She had so much fun, that she was wishing they were meeting the next night and she's going to join the planning committee. What surprised her the most, was how much she enjoyed people she wasn't really friends with in high school. "I told you so!" They had 35 classmates at their meeting.

I have never attended one of our reunions either.  Plans are to be in Crossville, TN until Nov. 6th and then head to Mtown for 3 -4 days to visit my father-in-law who is turning 90 later in the month.  Monday the 9th or Tuesday the 10th would work best for us to get together.  Is that doable?  Also, please share your home email and/or phone number with me in case we have to change our plans due to health or weather.  Thanks, Linda

Either date works for us. Let's chat about who would be interested, which date and a place that has room where you don't feel pressured to hurry.

My email address is, kaydegrado@mchsi.com

Phone, 641-752-3779

I'm so looking forward to seeing you!

Ok, I suggest that we make our first "get together" on Tuesday November 10, 2009 at Legend's Restaurant.  This will work for Linda and the rest of us can adjust.  I will make a reservation for 6:00 PM to be in the private room to the left.  If that doesn't work with the restaurant, I will repost new plans.  All who can make it are welcome.  If you can make it post it here so I can give the restaurant some numbers.  Vic

Jim and I will be there.

Linda, Is there anyone you'd like me to call and let know you'll be in town?

Vic, Are you going to send out an email for those who don't check the website?

Good point Kay, about sending an E-mail to all! I don't think a lot of our class mates know about the Forum page or even know how to get to it.

I will mark my calender for Nov. 10th, but will be a pop in and out to say Hi, because that is our night to jam, something I have done for several years.

Don't wait to long Vic to post it, because of planning for all. Time at this stage of life is valuable and hard to divide up.

I for one had a very good time at the reunion. I did not feel left out, clicked out, bumed out, or any of the other outs that one might think of. It is sad when you hear of some of the comments of displeasure of the few who seem not to want to take part, and only want to tare down a good thing. This is my view and I'm sticking to it.

I have kept in touch with Mary Backoff through the years, but she doesn't have a computer so I haven't let her know of our current plans.  She lives on Boone St and yes, please invite her to join us!  Would love to see any and all from '64!!  Where is the Legend Restaurant?  Thats new to us.  We'll plan on Nov. 10th and see you there.  If anything comes in the way, I'll let you know.  Thanks for your help in planning this... can't wait to see you again!!  Linda

This is a great idea! I wil try to be there on the 10th. All depends on weather, etc., since I'm coming from the hinterlands. Thanks for this website, Vic, and for sending the emails. I didn't realize the website was still active so hadn't been checking it.

I talked to Mary Backoff and she will join us on the 10th. Glad you're coming Sharon. I didn't get to visit with you much since we were only there Friday.
